Can you guess which apartment is Mom’s?

Guys:
Mom has been, as you might imagine, experiencing a major episode of the ”halloween withdrawal” syndrome, seeing as how there isn’t pumpkin one in Northern China, a definite lack of cornstalks here in the city, and virtually no goblins or witches wandering about in the Hutongs. She did find a few noise-sensitive witches that are hanging in the window and will probably be sent home later (they cackle when you clap your hands, kinda like James’ Best Christmes present ever, the Clapper…). So, she was delighted to find traditional Chinese lanterns but with faces on them! We bought a bunch, and hung three on our balcony, to the consternation and confusion of dozens of Chinese who walk along the street under our apartment every day. Imagine their surprise when they disappear on Thursday. Hope you all have a great day on the 31st, and we will be thinking of all the buddies doing the trick-or-treating that we wish we could join in with.
Love,
Dad

Mom, I am taking pictures of our Halloween decorations so that you can see them. You are one that truly appreciates such things! We miss you and love that you are puzzling the Chinese with your festive lanterns! Make sure you bring those home!

I like them a lot because they’re not your run of the mill halloween decorations you know? Ashley has done a good job decorating our place/your place with decorations. We’re sad you won’t be here too, Ashley hasn’t seen your classic funny mask Dad with the curly hair and glasses

Jon that means that it’s up to you to wear it this year in honor of Dad to freak out the little trick-or-treaters! Besides, you are just as silly as Dad so it totally fits!

Good job on the decorations. Of course, this assumes your decorations don’t land you on a labor farm in the western provinces…
We have Zoo Boo tonight and trick or treating tomorrow. The boys are excited and are dressing up as Captain Hook and Peter Pan. This prompted a last minute switch for Tori from Raggedy Ann to Tinkerbell. It will be sunny and 84 on Halloween day, but right around 70 at trick or treating time.
We will take pictures of course.

Holly, there are fewer decorations here than I was led to believe…but some at least.
Jon, Ashley is definitely one of us!
Jon & Holly, yes Jon MUST wear the glasses-forehead-hair mask…I believe it is in Dad’s closet, maybe on the shelf? That is normally it’s honored place.
Joe, hopefully they won’t blow away and today is a bitterly cold, windy day, so the goblins MUST be out. It, of course, is Halloween here now.
The kids will look so cute–yes, yes, pictures are a must!
And, a Happy Halloween to ALL my favorite goblins.

well, i must say that my witch that hangs and screeches that is part of our halloween decor must’ve been ‘made in china’–it’s that same as yours! i will feel connected somehow.
i am a little jealous of the texas forcast, i will cross my fingers for some warmth and dry skies…however it could be worse for some of the more eastern siblings. we will do our best to remember to take pics tomorrow of costumes and then to actually post them. i know, don’t hold your breath but we (i) will do my best. take care and have fun. your halloween frivolities are sorely missed by us all!

Kris, Yes…they make them all here; cargo them over; and sell only a few here. I took all the wtiches down today, so when Dad claps, I screech and jiggle for him now. Can’t wait to see the pictures. It must have been chaotic fun at your house. We thought of you. In fact I was teaching a class right at the time I thought the grandchildren would be trick-or-treating and the students seemed to like that image and learned some fun American culture (which they are always hungry to hear about).

HEY…maybe that typo up there should have been ‘twiches’…that would actually be a good name for them. heh heh
